We have been part of York's dining scene since the mid-2000s, but our modern story began in 2017, when three brothers took over this 40-cover restaurant. Drawing on their mixed cultural backgrounds and years in hospitality, they set out to build the restaurant York was missing: somewhere everyone could enjoy great food and drink in a beautiful, relaxed and welcoming room.
An independent, family-run bistro down a fairy lit alley off High Ousegate, where every clock is set to eight. Mediterranean and European plates, steaks, cocktails and live music in the heart of York.
Real choice matters to us. We write separate menus for gluten free, vegetarian and vegan guests, so people with dietary requirements feel considered rather than reduced to an icon in the margin. The same thinking runs through the room itself: step free access, fully accessible toilets, baby change units and highchairs. And because the whole family should be welcome, that includes the dog.
The bar celebrates local favourites: York Gin, beers from Rudgate Brewery and expertly brewed Dancing Goat coffee, alongside cocktails and a drinks list that includes vegan, organic, gluten free and non-alcoholic options. Coffee at lunch, a cocktail before dinner or a round with friends, there is something for every palate.

York is at the heart of what we do. Our kitchen leans on local suppliers and produce, and the bar pours York Gin and Rudgate Brewery beers alongside Dancing Goat coffee. Romantic dinners, birthdays, a catch up with friends or a bite between sights, they all find their way down our alley.
